Mark Lussier

Dean, Emeritus College

“This lecture explores the amazing journey of Alexander Csoma de Kőrös, a little known figure who is now recognized as the ‘Father of Tibetology.’ Following formal training in Europe, Csoma became convinced that the origins of the Hungarian language and people could be found beyond the high Himalayas. On November 28, 1819, he left his small village of Kőrös in what is now Romania and essentially walked to Tibet (and then India), among the most epic journeys of any age.”
