New Emeritus College Dean: Mark Lussier

Mark Lussier

Professor Emeritus of English, Mark Lussier, was appointed Dean of the Emeritus College by University Provost Nancy Gonzales effective July 1, 2022. Lussier succeeded Dean Emeritus Joseph R. Carter, who served for three years. Dean Lussier is appointed to a two-year renewable term.

Lussier led a notable career as a scholar, teacher, graduate student advisor and administrator in his twenty-six years on the ASU faculty. He served as Chair (2013 – 2016) of the English Department and as President of the ASU University Senate (2012 – 2013), during which time he also chaired the University Academic Council.

Lussier is an expert on the life and works of William Blake, having published widely on them and other topics. He has directed Medieval and Renaissance programs at ASU and Oxford. His far-ranging interests lead him into modern science, philosophy, medicine and ethics. Among many recognitions, he received the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Zebulon Distinguished Teaching Award in 2006.
