Short courses and workshops are offered through the Emeritus Academy for Continued Learning to various organizations in the greater Phoenix area who are committed to bringing substantive instruction in contemporary subjects and methods from the sciences, humanities and arts to the general population. To teach a short course or present a workshop under the Emeritus College's auspices, an individual must be a member, associate member or affiliate member of the Emeritus College. Courses, typically at the university "general studies" level, vary from three to ten lectures of one or two hours each and do not carry college credit. The lecturer may require a modest stipend or honorarium, the amount to be negotiated with the partron organization.
