It is with a deep sense of loss that we memorialize here our former Dean and one of the founders of the Emeritus College, Prof. Len Gordon, who passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

As we knew him best, doing what he loved doing most, other than playing center field.
The Faculty Emeriti Association (FEA) has served the retired faculty of ASU for several decades as a means of maintaining social contact within the University. At the time of the founding of the Emeritus College and for ten years afterwards, the FEA continued to fill this role for those emeriti who chose not to join the College. The FEA also sponsored and administered the Emeritus Faculty Fellowship program for the benefit of graduate students who were looking toward careers in the professoriate. When it became apparent recently that most of those who participated in the FEA functions were also members of the Emeritus College, the proposal was made to the Provost by the current FEA leadership to disband the Association and combine its functions with those of the College. The proposal was adopted by the administration and a bylaws amendment presented to the College membership that established a standing committee whose charge is to administer the Fellowship program. This involves soliciting contributions to the fund, selecting Fellowship candidates and sponsoring an annual luncheon to honor the awardees. .
